Students Participate in Holiday Golf Lessons

 

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade at John H. West Elementary School in the Plainedge School District have been learning the principals of and skills necessary to successfully play miniature golf during their physical education classes – only they have been playing the favorite game with a bit of a twist.

Third-grade students at Eastplain Elementary School in the Plainedge School District learned that fire safety should be a yearlong process when members of the North Massapequa Fire Department visited the school to educate the students on the precautions to take prior to and during a fire.

Kindergarten students at John H. West Elementary School enjoyed a real-life Thanksgiving Dinner that - believe it or not - they prepared themselves!  

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ladies, gentleman, and children of all ages were recently entertained in the gymnasium at Schwarting Elementary School in the Plainedge School District when the school’s kindergarten students took them on a journey under the big top and performed a variety of circus tricks.

The Conversation Continues - What we can do to protect our children.....

As an extension of the grade-level’s study on Native Americans, fourth-grade students at Charles E. Schwarting Elementary School in the Plainedge School District recently had the opportunity to participate in a unique, hands-on cultural arts social studies program, called “Journey into American Indian Territory.”  The program was a multi-day in-house field trip that focused specifically on Iroquois and Plains Indians, whose origin rests in New York.

Elementary students in the Plainedge School District along with their parents, enjoyed an evening together participating in activities and games designed to return them to the 1800s and life on the prairie.

The Plainedge School District is proud to announce that, as a result of her outstanding academic achievements, Plainedge High School senior Alexa Vieni has been named a Commended Student in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Congratulations to the Plainedge High School Quiz Bowl team and their faculty advisor, Mr. Formisano who have won the first round of the News 12 Long Island Competition 380 to 195 over New Hyde Park.

This Saturday, September 13, the Plainedge Schools joined the Plainedge Bobcats in opening the new football/lacrosse field at John H. West.
